The Top Drop For Irrigation
YaraRega – whose name is derived from the Old Norse word for ‘rain’ – readily dissolves in water for easy and efficient application using pivot, macro and micro sprinklers, low tech drip or furrow irrigation systems.
Alternatively, it can be broadcast as a soil application prior to anticipated rainfall or irrigation.
Yara Australia Commercial Manager, Paul Eitzen, says YaraRega delivers a balanced supply of macro and micro-nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, boron and zinc, to a wide range of fruit and vegetable crops, grapes and flowers.
“Many fruit and vegetable growers would like to have the flexibility and convenience of a fertiliser that can be either fertigated or spread,” he says.
“Standard fertilisers are not designed for this use and often contain up to 20 percent ‘fillers’, coarse and insoluble particles that can block filters and drips.
“Likewise, many have special coatings that help to improve their handling and spreading as dry granules.
“Dissolved in water, these waxes and oils are released into the solution and again, can create significant problems.
“YaraRega has less than one percent insolubles and a special coating that protects the granule during handling and storage, allowing the product to be handled using bulk bags while keeping the strength in the compounds to allow ease of spreading.”
Paul says the delivery of a balance of nutrients via irrigation systems can deliver higher yields compared to broadcast application of dry granules.
“In field trials at Yara Research Centre in Hanninghof, Germany, on the addition of an NPK compound fertiliser via irrigation increased yield in strawberries by 46% compared to standard broadcast application and 35% compared to broadcast application at the same time as irrigation,” he says.
YaraRega complements the rest of the Yara range, including YaraTera water-soluble NPK crystalline fertilisers for use in hydroponic systems, YaraVita foliar fertilisers, YaraLiva calcium nitrate fertilisers, YaraMila NPK compound fertilisers and Yara Liquids fertilisers.
Yara fertilisers are supported by range of innovative decision-making tools to provide a complete crop nutrition solution for all production systems.
“With over 100 years of knowledge and expertise in plant nutrition, Yara can offer expert technical support and a range of decision-making tools and services to help growers get the very best results,” Paul says.
