Yara's Boundary Bend Plant Expands

An upgrade of the Yara Boundary Bend plant in Victoria has been received with enthusiasm by growers in nearby regions who continue to use Yara fertilisers to optimise yield quality. As part of the plant expansion, Yara has invested in a larger mixer to allow for greater capacity of production, catering to the increased demand from growers across regions such as Riverland, Sunraysia, Riverina and Mallee.

Growers in these regions have experienced an increase in demand for their produce with the citrus industry undergoing a significant revival largely fuelled by Free Trade Agreements. These Free Trade Agreements were signed between the Australian government and China, Korea and Japan in recent years focusing on citrus crops.

Whilst the demand for almonds and citrus have been significant, other crops such as table grapes, wine grapes, broadacre and vegetables also continue to see positive results. The region’s growers are always seeking the best products to use on their crops.

Yara recognises this increased demand and strives to service these growers by providing the right product at the right time to ensure optimum crop nutrition is achieved.

“The uptake results were obvious and the plant responds well,” says Alf Sapuppo, a citrus and wine grower from the Gol Gol region in NSW.

As these key regions rely heavily on agriculture for their economic prosperity, growers have responded positively to the increased production capabilities of Yara Liquids.

“The liquid fertilisers from Yara are exactly what we need for our wine grapes.  The liquid supply which include nitrate nitrogen has a far lower risk of leaching into waterways and allows for better uptake by the plant,” says Brent Farnsworth, a wine grape producer from Sunraysia.

Mr. Farnsworth said that he has used products from the Yara Liquids fertiliser range throughout last year’s crop season to achieve high yields and good quality grapes.

“I’ve found it really convenient to use the liquid products because there’s no hassle with mixing different bags and it allows us to do a great job with our crops.

Last year, we had some really good crop yields because we applied the right amounts of Yara products at the right times. We’ve just started this season’s crops with Yara products and are hoping for great yields yet again. “

Yara continues its commitment to helping growers achieve healthy crops and high yields with the local Agronomist for the region, David Coombes stating that:

“Yara Liquids fertilisers provide growers with nutrients that are already in suspension and available to plants. By taking the time out of mixing bag fertiliser and manual handling issues, some growers prefer liquids for their ease of use.

I’ve seen the benefits of bulk deliveries to an irrigation injection point on a farm allowing the grower to simplify their operations and inject fertiliser at a rate and value they can control. Yara Liquids take out the issue of large volume storage and handling of various bag fertiliser products and their waste from packaging.”
